RELATIONSHIPS: VEHICLES FOR GROWTH

I work with heterosexual, gay/lesbian, queer, gender diverse, monogamous or polyamorous folks in relationships who are wanting to shift how they connect with each other and make room for their preferred ways to show up.

It’s common to seek guidance from a therapist when relationship patterns we’ve been using just don’t work anymore and frequently are causing a situation to worsen. It may seem on the surface a cruel irony that the person we want to love the most is the one that can trigger intense feelings, and not always good ones. But if we look at the wider perspective, that often annoying partner gives us a chance to learn to be a more understanding and compassionate person, and in the long run, to bring respect and joy to our most intimate relationship.

Traditional relationship therapy heals through nurturing and tends to be non-directive; I believe that nurturing and empathy are necessary but not sufficient for relationship therapy. In this space I will also coach, confront and teach how you might actually live relationally; in a way that is connected to yourself, your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and to those you love.

TEN GOOD REASONS TO COME FOR RELATIONSHIP THERAPY

  • The relationship is stuck in negativity (Perpetual problems)

  • Deal breakers/Gridlock

  • Partner betrayal/infidelity

  • Sexual Issues

  • Preparing for marriage, relationship contracts or agreements

  • Family problems

  • Giving it "one last try"

  • Deepening your bond & intimacy

  • Exploring new insights about relational & sexual themes

  • Preparing for marriage, relationship contracts or agreements

  • Psycho/Sex Education

There is no room for objective reality in personal relationships.  Who’s right or wrong doesn’t matter.
It’s about two subjective realities that have to negotiate with each other, make things work for themselves as a team.
